This piece is a stunning choral anthem by the famous English baroque composer Henry Purcell. With choral music working so effectively on brass, this arrangement perfectly encapsulates the lamenting A minor key. At a Grave pace, each part has an opportunity to bring out their individual line and shape in the contrapuntal section, plus make the most beautiful blended sound in the unison sections. This is definitely a go to piece to change the mood or pace of a concert, rest the ensemble, work on blending and of course include a famous English composer an audience will be familiar with.
