Written in 2013 for the Brass Farthings trio, this pieces was commissioned by the Northamptonshire music service for their talented grade 8 Brass Trio to perform in Birmingham for the Music For Youth Festival Finals that year. This piece was written as a powerful entrance, opening with a short quartal fanfare. The main body of the work is a fast, energetic and syncopated riff section with a long melody over the top and changing chromatic harmonies all building towards a grand chorale with long singing lines. The final dramatic statement echoes the opening fanfare. A definite concert piece or competition showpiece, this original composition is a fun and challenging way to show off the colour and brilliance of 3 brass instruments.
