Chanson de matin is a violin solo with piano that comes from a set of 2 songs published in 1899. It very much takes on the persona of a fresh and popular song when compared to the depth and profound nature of the first Chanson de Nuit.
Written for the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Trumpet ensemble in 2018, this arrangement for 10 trumpets filled the brief of allowing students both simple melodic phrasing and chordal accompaniment to work on sound, blend and tuning. A simpler arrangement from the collection written for RBS, this may also work for any brass festivals or coaching workshops. If 10 trumpets is too many, get in touch and I’d be happy to rearrange for a smaller number!
