Dvořák’s 8 Humoresques were composed during his stay in the United States, taking small musical themes from his various sketchbooks and creating an interesting cycle of accessible, folk-like piano pieces. Number 7 became exceptionally famous for it’s comical lilting rhythms and song like structure, along with the funny American lyrics – “Passengers will please refrain from flushing toilets while the train is standing still within the stationhouse.”
This version was arranged for Kensington Brass’ 2023 Summer Garden Party series of light classical music requests and first performed at the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, Holborn, London.
