The Turkish March from ‘The Ruins of Athens’ has a strong rhythmic pounding and flourishing yet simple melody. It also has a remarkable shape, emerging from nothing and building to an exciting tutti roar! This is a highly popular and well-known tune that sits perfectly on brass for a short light-classical recital item. Arranged for Kensington Brass in 2023 as a request, it was performed at the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn for the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Lord and Lady Mance amongst other classical requests.
