Vexilla Regis, translation ‘The Royal Banner’, is Bruckner’s final motet written in 1892. A piece that demonstrates both perfect choral unison and simple counterpoint, it is a perfect item for any group working on sound, blending and ensemble. It is a stunning repertoire item that works impressively in large acoustics, and could work as a pair alongside my arrangement of Locus Iste.
